What Do Healthy Drinks Have To Say?

Americans consume so much sugary drinks like sodas, juices and other beverages everyday. This is the very reason why soft drink industries manufacture 10.4 billion gallons of soda annually that would suffice every American’s need of about 12-ounce can daily. According to statistics, four out of five US children and two out of three American adults consume sugar-filled drinks each day while teen boys consume more that a quart of sugary beverages daily. On the other hand, adults, who want to lose weight consume more than 12-ounce of sweet drinks everyday.

Just like any other sweetened beverages, fruit juices is no excuse because of its excess sugar content despite of it “sounding (and looking) healthy and nutritious”. Accordingly, 12-ounce of sugary drink has a whooping 10-12 teaspoons of sugar which is equivalent to 150 calories- no wonder why Americans succumb to health problems such as obesity and Type 2 diabetes. Records show that these sugary drinks had contributed to the drastic increase of “diabesity”.

A recent study from the Harvard School of Public Health found out that consuming sugary drink is linked with heart disease. This was published in its April issue with 90,000 women-respondents of whom the study was conducted. Research showed that women who consumed more than 2 servings of sweetened beverage each day had at least 40 percent possibility of acquiring heart disease than women who seldom consume these beverages. It further revealed that the possibility of not acquiring these illnesses whilst consuming sugary beverages will be low if one is having healthy and balanced diet or at least maintaining a healthy weight. Moreover, these sugary beverages have an unpleasant effect to blood sugar levels and cholesterol that would greatly contribute to the possibility of acquiring heart ailments, not to mention its prime role as the number catalyst for obesity and diabetes.

Healthy drinking through better beverage choices will help you get rid of obesity and diabetes- and the best option would always be water. As we know, water delivers everything- nutrients, vitamins and minerals which are needed by our body. Pure water is healthy because its 100percent calorie-free. However, this would be very impossible for someone who palate has gotten used to sweet drinks as plain water could just be so “boring to drink”. But just when you want to be healthy, you have to make way to being one and healthy drinking is just the best option.
